Hampshire Hotel Groningen Centre lies on the edge of the historical inner city and it's the ideal base to explore the city from. The hotel is situated near the Groninger Museum and various pleasant shopping streets. At the front desk you can hire a rental bike to admire the beautiful natural surroundings and sights around Groningen. Also at night there's lots to do; music centre De Oosterpoort, Holland Casino and cinema Pathé are all within a stone's throw.

Surroundings

Hampshire Hotel Groningen Centre is situated in the city centre. The sparkling shopping street Herestraat is located within walking distance, as well as the market square Grote Markt. Groningen has a small, yet lively city centre with a wide variety of shops and bars, all of which are close to each other.

Not enough light in the bathrooms. Lugage kept behind Reception Desk looks very unprofessional. Extra 15 euro p.p. for breakfast is a rip-off.

John Sharpe Reasonable price, helpful staff, great location: 12 September 2011; 9.2; + very helpful staff. a free upgrade to a room on the fifth floor with a wonderful view over the city. very good breakfast; - better to be in the hotel looking out rather than the other way round as building is an eyesore. we made the mistake of hiring bikes from the hotel for the day, but discovered in the evening that the lights didn't work making for a hairy ride home.

We received a city map with recommended restaurants with different accents (atmosphere, quality, hip) and things to do/see (shopping streets, towers, typical Groningen sights). Car can be parked in garage under hotel outside of daily work hours.; - Breakfast had hot and cold offerings but was good but a little on the simple side.

Wonderful stay on a quiet street.: 30 April 2011; 10; + We were booked into a different room but upon arrival discovered that the room was very hot, south facing and had no air conditioning. The hotel desk staff upgraded us to this very large luxury room for only 10 euros a night, so we were very pleased. We were on the top floor overlooking the canal so the view was wonderful. The complimentary coffee/tea in the mornings was also lovely as we could go down at any time and enjoy it, as well as the hotel computer that was nearby.; - None!

De Kwakel: 15 July 2007; 7.2; + De receptie, vriendelijk en erg behulpzaam. Het ontbijt en de service op zaterdag goed en erg behulpzaam. Parkeren in het hotel.; - Het ontbijt en de service op vrijdagmorgen was erg karig en klantonvriendelijk. Verlichting en stroomaansluiting op kamer 404 klopt niet.

Rooms were comfortable and very clean, it was very well situated and had fantastic views from the rooms. Staff was pleasant and helpful and it was very quiet. I had a great night's sleep and I loved the bathroom and shower.

Anonymous Genieten in een vriendelijke en rustige hotel: 8 February 2012; 7.6; + Vriendelijke personeel. We konden de hele dag koffie of thee drinken. Hotel is niet ver van het centrum.; - Kamer was aan de krappe kant, de matrassen zijn zacht. Een dag in het hotel slapen mag de pret niet drukken.

Anonymous Prettig hotel met fantastisch uitzicht op de stad: 6 February 2012; 9.4; + prachtig uitzicht; - de 2 een persoonsbedden schuiven veel te gemakkelijk van elkaar af. Misschien gemakkelijk voor het schoonmaak personeel, maar ongemakkelijk voor slapers die anderrs gewend zijn. Suggestie: een eenvoudig clipje aan kop en voeteind. Ontbijt goed, maar tikje aan de dure kant. Meestal €12,50 à 13,50 gewend.
