Geen koffiezetapparaat en magnetron aanwezig (staan wel op inventarislijst), erg gehorig (veel herrie 's nachts, zondagochtend om 7 uur wakker geworden door opruimdiensten), men was handdoek vergeten neer te leggen en wij zijn in hotel extra handdoek gaan vragen. Erg onbeleefde dame had geen tijd om het te brengen. We konden het 's avonds zelf op komen halen. De medewerker 's nachts wist echter van niets!

Forget Amsterdam - stay in Haarlem

Brilliant location in the centre of Haarlem - a lovely place with lots to do and see. Good bars and restaurants within a 'spit'. Quiet rooms despite the proximity to the 'action'. Easy travel to Amsterdam, Schipol or the coast.

A little shabby around the entrance and our 'double' bed was in fact two singles pushed together - not too bad in theory but the mattresses were of different thicknesses resulting in a distinct height difference between the two!

Good location, met our sleeping and bathing needs. Water was hot without waiting. We loved Haarlem.

We left our towels on the rack indicating that we did not want new towels and we received them anyway, so the staff were not reading the signs.

Good location but where's the tea and coffee?

Super location, room was nice and clean, staff friendly. The value for money was ok but really the room was not much more than a youth hostel, for nearly twice the price. But I think we would come back here again.

Shame not to have option for making tea and coffee in the room after a flight and long bus ride!

Good but could be better

Quet and easily accessible. The rooms were always clean and tidy.

No prior knowledge that reception would be at the Ambassadors, therefore we carried our suitcases unnecessarily twice. The other critism is there is no telephone system. Our daughter needed to contact us but could not.

Fabulous location! Less than 15 minute walk to Haarlem Central train station. Lots of nearby restaurants, markets and shops. Fabuous home away from home. Staff most gracious and helpful.

Though posted eco-friendly policy, changed towels everyday whether needed or not.

Nice, spacious room on a quiet side street. Clean, pleasantly decorated room, basic cooking facilities very welcome.

No longer called Joops! Unclear sign at the address indicated (back entrance to a separate wing). No indication on the website of hotel name-change, or how to get from the address indicated there to the reception area on another street entirely! Typical Dutch, boat-type bathroom where the shower wets the whole room --with no squeegee. A problem finding private dry spot to dress when traveling with children!

The room was large and clean. An elevator was available. The room was fairly quiet and the beds were comfortable. Check-in and out were efficient. This would have been a great place to stay except for the safety concerns. If you stay here, make sure you bring your own cell phone.

There were several safety concerns with this hotel. Joops is located around the corner, down a narrow street, and a block away from the main hotel entrance. The entrance door is next to a seedy bar. This all-glass entry door had huge cracks in it. There was no phone in the room for emergencies - to contact the main desk we had to walk past the seedy bar all the way to the main lobby. There was no peep-hole in the door. The kitchen did not have a microwave as it showed in the photos. The guest laundry had a non-working washer/dryer that, according to the concierge, hadn't worked for weeks. The main desk personnel seemed perturbed at having to leave their back office area to grudgingly answer our questions.

fantastic location. reasonable price. good breakfast downstairs. nice reception area. very pleasant staff

1) no internet in the rooms 2) the rooms feel empty to me, no sense of being home-like or welcoming. the rooms feel too big, as if someone dropped off some cheap furniture in them. I'd like a little more decoration, or a rug, or something. And if you are trying for a clean, modern look, then keep the furniture in repair. 3) when I took a hot shower when I first arrived, the steam from the shower set off the smoke alarm.

Excellent staff; they walked us to the apartment when we couldn't find it. Requested a few towels and glasses and they arrived within minutes. Very private, with a view of the Bavo Church (we were on the third floor). Across the street from our favorite coffee shop, and a few doors away from Falafel Land. Right off the Market, and a 10 minute walk from the train station. TV had cable, and the thermostat wasn't just for show.

Only a few small things. We would have liked a sponge to wash the dishes (required before checkout), but just got one at the supermarket (which is a 5 minute walk. Our room didn't have a tub. A small alarm clock can be purchased around the block for 5 euro; in our room there wasn't one supplied. St. Bavo's bells will wake you at a reasonable time anyway (this is actually a Plus). Our visit was great, and we will not hesitate to use the Joops apartments again.

Not possible to have just a cup of coffee in the morning, you need to take the whole breakfast at 12,50 euro's or nothing at all. Horrible dried flower arrangement in the rooms. Dirty windows, which is a shame because it makes the beautiful view of the church less clear.

Franz hans Museum wa svery nice .The Tyler Museum was good too but spend more time at Franz Hans as he reveils Rembrants,but still not as good ,but very much worth the trip.

The concierge is friendly and knowledgeable. The hotel is very nicely situated near excellent cafes and restaurants, the charming Grote Markt, and the beautiful St. Bavo Church. The decor is original and fun--it's not Best Western, so if that is what you are looking for: stay in America. Why bother to travel in Europe?

Some of the other staff members weren't as helpful and/or knowledgeable. A telephone message from my brother on my birthday was never delivered to me (there is no voice mail), and he worked hard to dictate it in Dutch!

only one working computer...not a big problem...only used it once. Twin beds kept sliding apart...made it a little hard for people to sleep together. Our breakfast was not included in the price of the room and was not worth 12,50 Euros compared to other restaurants.

Great location in the middle of Haarlem near the Cathedral.

Room was in annex, with no phone, internet service, or even an alarm clock, and no advance notice that these features were not available. Staff said that hotel had plans to provide these in future, but seemed surprised that a guest would feel that given these problems, the price was far too high at present.

The room was clean. The television worked well, and the furniture was comfortable.

The room was not very functional. The shower had little water pressure and it quickly turned from hot to cold if someone on a floor below turned on the water. The bedside electric clock made noises during the night that would wake me up, but the clock did not sound its alarm at the time I set. There was a coffee maker but no coffee available for the guests. The room was three floors up, two of them a winding staircase and difficult to move bags up and down (the lack of an elevator was not known until I arrived at the room site. As I am older and less physically fit, it was difficult to schlep mhy bags up and down, to say nothing of myself.)
