Joops Hotel Haarlem

This was an excellent budget hotel in central Haarlem

• + Shower and batthroom were excellent. Beds were very comfortable. Location was ideal.
• – No coffee making facilities. Breakfast room was not in same building.
• * my tip Bring small amount of instant coffee and or teabags

You will want to come back to Joops!

• + Spacious room with a beautiful comfortable couch, a nice balcony, and view. Wonderful breakfast, delightful Egyptian decor, and very pleasant staff. Handy to all amenities, canal boat trips, museums, Grote Kerk, Keukenhof, and other cities. Good train and bus services, and excellent shops in Haarlem.

• – Undergoing renovation at present so rather 'unfinihed' in places.Odd jobs that could be easily fixed not done.rooms minimal, furniture a little tatty & only one pillow.

All is well that ends well.

• + In the city centre. Large room. When I was home I saw that they overcharged me. They quickly refunded me without questions.
• – Noisy. You have to check in at another hotel. Clumsy.

Mostly very good

• + Staff very friendly and particularly helpful. Room very large and comfortable, clean and well furnished.
• – Quite a trek to the room, up several flights of stairs, some spiral, and very steep, quite difficult with luggage and elderly parents! Might have been helpful to have made us aware of this.

Good for the budget but not for the back!

• + Great location in terms of walking to historic sites and shopping. Excellent restaurants nearby. Near train station. Reasonable price.
• – Very noisy at night until 2 AM. Beds very hard and uncomfortable.Room hot and many mosquitoes when window open. No screens on windows. Only one washer & dryer which is also used by cleaning staff so difficult to find time available for use. Kitchen needs a knife to chop vegetables etc.

• – Nightmare to find. Had to go to a different hotel to get the key and unclear instuctions were given on how we found our room which was in a seperate building.

Great hotel but room did need some updating

• + Brilliant service and location. Excellent sized rooms.
• – The decor needs updating. Our room 144 leaked around the window and had many mosquitos. There was no mirror except for one in the bathroom (not suitable for doing make up) so I purchased one. Pillows should be replaced. These are purely constructive criticism as we did enjoy our stay and would return. Many thanks.

Nice location but very noisy.

• + Harleem was very nice and a great city to stay in.
• – The room we had, 13, was very very noisy and was woken up multiple times each night because of parties. I wouldn't choose this hotel again.

Great place to stay

Nice service, brandnew mattresses, we were pretty satisfied!

Good for an extended stay

• + Great location. Close, but just off of main square.
• – An apartment seperate from hotel. That was not clear from description. For a long stay it would be great. No hair dryer.

Friendly helpful staff

• + The room was very large for a european room. The staff was extremely helpful. They gave us maps and info on Haarlem and Amsterdam. This is the place to stay if you do not want to drive in Amsterdam. Haarlem is much slower paced it is only a 15 min trian ride to Amsterdam and the trains leave every ten minutes. The hotel is only a five minute walk to the train station.

• – A little hard to find, should be more explicit that you actually check in at the Ambassador hotel

Very pleasant

• + Price correct. Very good location in a walking area with shops and cultural interests. Not too far from Haarlem central station. Easy to find by car, parking in the surroundings (not too expensive). Large room with kitchen.

By a few small changes it'd become perfect!

• – A bit old furniture (cupboards), too frequent church-bell activity at the nearby church (nice melodies, though), lack of bathtub or closed shower-stall or at least a shower-curtain, so after a shower the whole bathroom is soaking wet.
