Luxurous

• + a very large room with a balcony, comfortable beds, the temperature was on a perfect state, and a good bathroom.
• – There was no mini-bar, no water boiler for tea or so. Also, there were people in the hotel who weren't as lucky as we were, very hot rooms, not cleaned.
• * my tip A very good fitness center, sauna, the food is quite expensive though. a very nice bar on the first floor.

• + Lot of parking, a breakfast buffet for 13 euros was a good deal (champagne included), free wi-fi,
• – Extremely soft and uncomfortable mattresses, after 10 pm can only enter through the reception,

Hot, noisy hotel

• – 1-Breakfast should be included. 2-Room was very hot. 3-After requesting a quiet room, we were given a room on the lowest floor right beside where the tour buses parked. If this was the only family room we should have been informed when making the reservation. 4-Hotel was noisy at 1 am.
• * my tip Request a fan when you check in, no one will offer one. Also don't plan to sleep too much. Between the noise from other rooms and the noise and smell from tour busses parked just outside our room there was quite a bit of noise.

Lovely weekend break in a stylish hotel

• + Extremely comfortable beds, very spacious room with lots of natural light. Lovely food in the restaurant. Friendly staff.
• – There was some building work being done on the ground floor level where our room was (103) and the very loud drilling woke us up early on the Monday morning which was not welcomed.

• – There were ants crawling all over the room. We requested an iron 7 different times over a 5 day period and the hotel was unable to provide us with an iron during our entire stay. The comforter on the bed was filthy.

Conveniently situated hotel with average accommodation.

• + Car park facilities a recommendation.
• – Not all lights in room worked. Mattress poor - coil poking out on left side of bed. Soaps removed and not replaced. Balcony dirty with weeds, cigarette ends, empty bottles. Bed very untidily made each morning. Breakfast ecpensive for what one could get.

• + Large room.
• – Internet appeared to be free but was added to the bill and was very, very, very extremely expensive. Bathroom was not private within the room.

It is our fourth stay at the hotel, which says everything !

• + A well equiped room very near to the elevator. The best breakfast in town !
• – Our room was spacious, but there was a 3rd bed in the room...
• * my tip Easy to reach, near to Haarlem, Bloemendaal en Heemstede, with plenty of free parking space.

Very convenient, comfortable and business like.

• – I had asked for a double room. We had a problem finding parking space.

A good experience

• + Excellent staff; friendly, informative and effecient.
• – Confusion about name of hotel on Hotels.nl web-site. We arrived late at night in the dark looking for the Hotel Van de Valk Haarlem Zuid, the only clear signs were for the Hotel Haarlem Zuid. We took a long time to make the connection because we thought the Haarlem Zuid in the name referred to the distrct and were looking for the Van de Valk!

Good clean and presentable hotel.

• + Reception staff were efficient and very friendly.
• – A lady at breakfast needs to learn some serious Customer Service lessons, her attitude is appaling, talking down to customers and argueing with them. I did complain at reception. Also when we woke up after the first night and walked out on the balcony, a dog owner had allowed his dog to do his business right outside our door and not clean it up.. again, reception dealt with this quickly and efficiently.

Expensive hotel but excellent service

• + Customer Service excellent. Great selection for breakfast.
• – Decor a bit dated and in need of renovation. Expensive.

Business Amsterdam West

• + Good parking facilities, friendly and helpfull staff.
• – On 5th floor quite noisy, because of Aerobics lessons.
• * my tip When doing business in Amsterdam West (Harbour area) the Van der Valk Hotel Haarlem South is a good location to stay. It is good situated concerning travelling and little trafic jams.

A lovely 4 day stay in Haarlem

• + The staff were really helpful and all spoke very good English.

• + Good sized room with very comfortable beds and hotel well placed for using public transport for Amsterdam or Haarlem. Hotel parking extra advantage as we were travelling by car.
• – Room decoration somewhat "tired" food could be improved as could the lighting particularly in the restaurant at breakfast!
