Description
Hotel Orion is quietly situated on the island of Kaag that can be reached 24 hours a day by ferry. Once you arrive on the island, it is as if you have stepped inside a different world. De Kaag is a unique water sports village right in the beautiful lake district Kagerplassen and around Hotel Orion you can sail, fish or canoe to your heart's content.
Its central location in the green heart of the Randstad makes many attractions easily accessible from the hotel. Within 15 minutes you are at the Keukenhof gardens and the towns of Lisse, Hillegom and theme park Madurodam, the beautiful beach of Noordwijk, and the ancient university city Leiden. Hotel Orion is situated only 2 km from the A44 motorway, with direct connections to Schiphol, Amsterdam and The Hague.
The rooms have a shower and toilet, television, DVD player and desk. There are special family rooms with four beds. The hotel has no lift, you can reach the hotel rooms by an outside staircase. Orion Hotel has two meeting rooms and a lounge with a cosy ship's bar. From the terrace you have a view of the typical Dutch polder landscape.
Food and Drinks
The simple breakfast is prepared daily between 08:00 and 10:00 h.
There is no complete restaurant in the hotel but there is the possibility for a lunch, and a simple meal as dinner on request. Within walking distance of the hotel are some good restaurants. Most have a terrace on the water and mooring places for boats.
For a drink guests can visit the hotel's cosy ship bar that is open until midnight.

The entire hotel has free wireless internet available.

- The hotel does not have a 24-hour reception. Guests can check in until 22:00 h. If you would like to check in 22:00 hours, you should notify the reception in advance.

Surroundings
In the vicinity of Orion Hotel Kaag sailboats and canoes can be rented. All the islands in the Kagerplassen are polders and on almost every island there is a mill that was used to help make the polder dry. It is wonderful to explore the lakes by boat or sailboat, the area consist of several lakes linked by canals and ditches. Also nearby you can rent bicycles if you did not bring your own bike. You can make beautiful trips between the bulb fields, through the dunes or around the lakes. Those who prefer a visit to an historic city can spend the day in Leiden or Haarlem. Both cities have a beautiful city centre.
