Hotel Orion is quietly situated on the island of Kaag that can be reached 24 hours a day by ferry. Once you arrive on the island, it is as if you have stepped inside a different world. De Kaag is a unique water sports village right in the beautiful lake district Kagerplassen and around Hotel Orion you can sail, fish or canoe to your heart's content.

Its central location in the green heart of the Randstad makes many attractions easily accessible from the hotel. Within 15 minutes you are at the Keukenhof gardens and the towns of Lisse, Hillegom and theme park Madurodam, the beautiful beach of Noordwijk, and the ancient university city Leiden. Hotel Orion is situated only 2 km from the A44 motorway, with direct connections to Schiphol, Amsterdam and The Hague.

The rooms have a shower and toilet, television, DVD player and desk. There are special family rooms with four beds. The hotel has no lift, you can reach the hotel rooms by an outside staircase. Orion Hotel has two meeting rooms and a lounge with a cosy ship's bar. From the terrace you have a view of the typical Dutch polder landscape.

Surroundings

In the vicinity of Orion Hotel Kaag sailboats and canoes can be rented. The Kagerplassen are wonderful to explore by boat, since the lakes are all linked by (small) canals. You can also make beautiful cycling trips along bulb fields, dunes and the lakes. Free cycling routes are available at the reception. On the island there are no rental bicycles, so you are advised to bring your own bicycle. It is also fun to visit the cities of Amsterdam, The Hague, Leiden or Haarlem. The spring garden Keukenhof in Lisse is located 5 kilometres from the hotel.

Food and Drinks

The breakfast buffet is prepared daily between 08:00 and 10:00 h. An earlier breakfast is possible on request. The hotel has a pancake restaurant. Within walking distance you will also find five other restaurants. Most have a terrace on the water and mooring places for boats. For a drink guests can visit the hotel's cosy ship bar that is open until midnight.

wanna different experience......GO Kaag
  • + We were very pleasantly surprised by the location - ON AN ISLAND - mind you with a very good ferry service AROUND THE CLOCK !! When asked if there was public transportation, the Hotel answered "NO", but there is. If you wish to see the Dutch county-side leisurely take the bus; stops in Buitenkaag, right at the ferrydock. Buy a Strippenkaart and beat the price of gas in Europe. Breakfast was very good and adequate and even if it has fixed times, they accomodated us OUTSIDE breakfast-hours. (We had a few "early calls").
  • – Please relocate the toiletpaper dispenser, as we kept hitting our shoulder/arm on it.

Not happy with exterior spiral stairs

Complete breakfast included in the price of the room. Très agréablement situé sur une île, parking gratuit devant l'hôtel et accès individuel aux chambres (pas de bruits de couloirs. Petit déjeuner copieux inclu dans le prix de la chambre
