Maastricht a historic city,a long weekend of good food and shopping
  • + Very convenient for access to NS Railway station. Pleasant staff, courtious Nice old style clean hotel, seems very popular esp with German visitors. The area has some excellent restaurants and also lovely shops, Breakfast included was fine.
  • About 20 minutes walk to centre of town, accross the River Maas, but passing some very nice shops on the way Bottles shampoo and hand wash, from dispensers. Bought my own. For a 4 star hotel I had expected better. Air conditioning needs attention, regarding top floor (4th floor) quite noisy during the night due to technical problems. It faded away after a while, but we had problems every night. Very expensive weekend rate ie Saturday night almost E 200 while weekdays were E 145.
  • * my tip Bring or buy your own shampoo, shower gel etc. The Flo restaurant is gourmet dining at its best,, very close to hotel. Great when arriving by train. Also close to Liege by train and can access Brussels via Liege. The Bonifanten Museam is very close as well as the Ceramique Museum. There are some very expensive, designer shops in one of the side streets parallel to the river, before crossing the river Maas. A trip by boat to the ancient caves at St Pieterberg is a must. Maastricht is a shop

Good hotel in front of the train station.
  • + Good location near the train station, not noisy at night. Restaurant has interesting interior, service friendly.
  • Soap automat did not function well.
  • * my tip Ask for room 205,305, 405 etc. because it is a very nice light room at the corner of the hotel. Italian restaurant Quattro Mori excellent for lunch. Visit the Bonnefanten Museum.

The 'Grand'(?) Hotel in Maastricht
  • + Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful Would be more than happy if the hotel want to contact me.
  • We paid 187 Euros per night which we think is expensive. We did expect more - such as toiletries, mini bar etc. Deluxe room is not the right description.
  • * my tip Andre Rieu concert - Gauchos a good place to enjoy the concert from!

Brilliant Location for Travellers
  • + Convenient for public transport. Short, pleasant walk into town.
  • Steps at entrance to hotel-difficult with luggage.
  • * my tip Delightful specialist shops selling chocolates and teas and other quality goods. Lovely cafes for people-watching on a hot day!

lovely people, hotel needs updating
  • + 5 minutes from city centre, lovely staff. The lobby looked smart and clean
  • the hotel rooms and swimming pool needs serious updating, everything is worn and tried looking. In our room, there was drawing on the walls. the carpet looked like it hadnt been replaced since the 80's.
  • * my tip there was always something to eat, i would recommend the kebab hut, outside the hotel, delish!

19th century atmosphere, comfy rooms, but breakfast could be better!
  • + I was pleased to receive an excellent value-for-money dinner.
  • Breakfast was disappointing; no muesli, no skimmed or soya milk, no cooked breakfast, minimal fruit, no healthy yoghurts (e.g. Benecol, etc.)
  • * my tip Very convenient as a travel hub, with the station being over the road.

Couldn't ask for a better stay
  • + Always a good stay, we actually had 2 meals in the restaurant this year, lobster soup was exceptional. Service as always was excellent, and as usual we have no complaints. Have already booked for the July Andre weekend.
  • Room 326 could do with a little attention to decoration alongside the bed where the paint seems to be chipping of the wall.
  • * my tip The restaurant was excellent and service the first week was excellent, the waiter the second week was a bit off hand when the barman told him we were English until he found out my husband spoke very fluent German then his attitude changed. Otherwise the food both weeks was excellent. The Maitre d'hotel was extremely polite and "old school" very professional.

Faded Glory, Great Location
  • + across from the train station front staff pleasant and helpful
  • faded glory hotel, once grand now borders on tacky/run-down

Very pleasant stay in excellent location next to the station
  • + Location right next to the station. Friendly reception staff. Large rooms - very spacious. Acted promptly to requests (e.g. extra creamer for the tea/coffee in the room) Nice bathroom with deep bath, Dove toiletries & very hot water. Very nice, quiet swimming pool.
  • Even with A/c on max (&windows; open) could not get a good night's sleep as the room was too warm. Expensive Breakfast (17.50)
  • * my tip Take your breakfast in the cafe next door - much better value (5.50 for toast, croissant, jam, tea/coffee & fresh orange juice). Don't forget your swimming gear

  • + Great location, friendly staff.
  • Not enough toilet paper provided in the room. Long corridors. You can't reach every room by elevator.

Good location, swimming pool
  • + Directly opposite the railway and bus stations - brilliant! We had a rear-facing room, so the view was not great, but it was wide open and quiet, and we heard the blackbird singing. Both bedroom and bathroom were spacious. Swimming pool. 3 nights for 2 made the price reasonable.
  • Breakfast was very expensive, but it included a wide choice and at least the boiled eggs were very hot. Perhaps worthwhile if you stuffed yourself for the day. The photograph shows the lovely old part, but actually this is a large hotel, most of it modern, and little of the old survives inside. Rooms in the old part may be lovely - we didn't see - and there is the bar.
  • * my tip If you want a place near the station, this is definitely worth considering.

no title
  • Amrath is very good but for clients that stay more then one day they have to really care about cleaning of room and toilet every day in same level. This I missed not only this time but and in August last time. Service that I marked is only for cleaning the rest is very good service.

Location is the keyword
  • + Nice location, as the hotel is across the central station and 10 mins walking to the nice terraces and shopping area.
  • Not so good location as the public transport busses make a lot of noise early in the morning. The room was relatively warm so opening a window meant more noise.

Maastricht for a weekend? Don't stay at Amrath Hotel
  • + -friendly personell -enough towells -fresh and tasty croissants -parking garage
  • - room service needs improvement: beds didn't look like made. waste bin was not emptied - the swimming pool area is a laugh (I never would advertise a pool like this). the place is worn out, needs reparing: the male fitting room does not have hangers for bathrobe, the place looks dirty, dark and worn out. - Carpet on 3dr floor loose - you could slip and fall on the floor - Restaurant does not serve mussels in the restaurant - it would smell and therefore we weere offered a place in the Bistro at the bar; incredible, since we are in the mussels season now and you can have them at each restaurant in Maastricht.

No value for money
  • + Proximity to the central station and the bus stop.
  • Same and very very limited options available for breakfast. Would not want to eat only bread and butter everyday!! Airconditioning is pathetic. Might as well say that the rooms come without the airconditioning! Room Hygiene- the rooms are not cleaned properly and one has to always remind them to clean properly.

Great historical hotel able to meet your unique needs!
  • + Customer service was wonderful and very accommodating. We ordered birthday flowers and cake for this weekend's celebration and the staff provided everything perfectly to include upgrading to a better and more appropriate room for the event. Thank you to all the staff.
  • Although the hotel had an indoor swimming pool, it was very low energy and a boring environment. Concerned that if someone were to slip or fall or have any type of accident while alone in this area, no one would know anything happened until someone else were to use the pool area. How can this be prevented in case something were to happen? Recommend to look at safety in this area...possibly a security camera?

  • + Ordinary 4 stars hotel. Excelent breakfest! People were very gentle, since the manager to the cleaner. Excelent location if you came by train; only 30 seconds from the station!

Great location for train travellers
  • + Proximity to the station - was travelling by train. The centre of the town was within walking distance. Restaurants close by. Swimming pool in the basement. Large room and bathroom.
  • Did not feel welcomed on arrival as reception ignored me and then proceeded to serve others who arrived after me. When I pointed this out she didn't stop serving the others and take care of me. My subsequent experiences at reception were all positive, but first impressions are lasting!
