Rotterdam is a modern city, with an architecture that constantly feeds your imagination. The city's extensive reconstruction after World War II stimulated renewal and change, evolving in the impressive atmosphere it now emanates. Well worth is a visit tot the Nederlands Architectuurinstituut (the Dutch institute for architecture), where you can visit one of the many exhibitions or plunge into the archives of Dutch architecture. Rotterdam lends itself perfectly for a nice blend of culture and architecture, creating a status of global fame. Rotterdam certainly lives up to its title of 'City of architecture 2007'.

Hotel Turkuaz is a friendly small-scale hotel where personal approach and a good price/quality relationship go hand in hand. In the hotel you can use the beverage vending machine near the reception. All of the rooms are equipped with shower & toilet, television, safe and radio.

Breakfast is included in the roomprice and is served on weekdays between 06:00 and 09:30 h. and in the weekend between 07:00 h and 09:30 h. Hotel Turkuaz does not have its own restaurant but the surroundings offer numerous restaurants, for example in the (old) harbour district. Coffee and tea facilities are including the room price.

Surroundings

The hotel is situated in the heart of Rotterdam, at walking distance of Rotterdam Central Station. Visits to the Kunsthal (exhibition centre), the Luxortheatre or the Museum for architecture are all easy to realize. The 'Kubuswoningen (Cubic houses)' and the impressive Erasmusbrug (bridge) are well worth a visit as well.

MARTIN LUDFORD Good location on a budget: 9 June 2011; 6.6; + Location is very good just a few minutes walk from the central station which was my destination for onward travel the next day. The location is fairly quiet and the breakfast was more than adequate. Very interesting use of tiles all around the hotel which gives the hotel its own unique quality.; - I think the hotel interior and my room was looking a bit tired and could do with an update to brighten things up. However, still keep the wall tiles.

EVANGELOS ANGELAKIS Review: 22 March 2009; 6.6; + Good free and fast internet. Good tv with many channels. Warm. Open Windows. Friendly staff.; - The cleaning staff were smoking in the hotel public places and sometimes in the rooms although it was forbiden. Many times no one cared about preparing or refilling breakfast buffet. Breakfast buffet has nothing to do with the pictures in the site. VERY THIN WALLS. You can hear everything near and up other rooms.

Staff were civil.; - Room not as described (there were 2 single beds instead of 1 double, there was no safe and no radio). Bathroom was unclean with broken fixtures. Burn marks on the duvet and duvet cover - it looked as though perhaps the cover had not been changed. Staff were civil. Draconian house rules. Breakfast was mediocre with limited choice. The public areas of the hotel looked as expected, however the rooms and corridors were shabby.

Jane Great location, excellent staff, fabulous (free) hot drinks machine!: 11 January 2009; 9.2; + Really lovely, helpful staff and a fabulous (free) hot drinks machine available 24/7 made for a memorable stay. The location is excellent, just 6-7 minutes walk from Central Station. Very clean and tidy, too. It was difficult to obtain access to the wifi, but as long as you are prepared to keep on trying and also moving around your computer in your room, you should eventually be able to get on to the network.; - Quite a cramped room - but this is reflected in the price.

Denmark Ok hotel, very bad hygiene: 13 October 2008; 7.2; + Nice bed & room. Good television. Lot of hot water, nice shower.; - Sunday morning, around 7 a'clock, 3 young boys, which knows the staff, came and had breakfast. They where very bad, and they had their fingers all over the food, throwing the food around. It was a very bad experience. I think this experience will make me not to come back again, hence we dont know if people like that is eating at the hotel on a regular basis. Same day, all the bread was to old, the bread was full of mould.
